If there is the quintessence of advice that I may offer to resolve the most challenging problem ahead, it is this: Use soft power. Mutual affirmation of power. The more you intend to rebel, bare hatred and question, the tighter the grip will be. Inevitable and perhaps painful, but this is the way. Build trust and understanding, then work within the parameters. And soon to your surprise you will find them broaden, trust me.
Some in CO may find this very familiar. Yes, the same concept and system needs to be applied to Council too.
